“I have always been interested in flight. I was not able to fulfill my childhood dream to become a pilot in the Air Force, and at this time the cost to get into private manned flights is beyond my means. Flying fixed wing and multirotor (specifically FPV) has been a great way to fill that need for me. My brother and I started flying FPV about 4 years ago, and this has been a great experience for us as a family, and an experience I have since shared with my stepson. If the cost of flying increases (beyond the occasional prop or smashed antenna!) I am not sure I will be able to continue participating in this hobby I have come to love. I also do not have an AMA field near me, so the requirement to fly at one will absolutely ground me. I currently fly in open fields, parks, and sports fields. I am always aware of my surroundings, and will ground my craft and move to the next spot if I feel that there are too many people around. I have no desire to make those bystanders nervous and do damage to the reputation of the hobby.”
