“I started building RC airplanes shortly after high school but had to put it away due to life events. I picked the hobby up again 2 1/2 year ago after watching Flite Test videos. I enjoy the building of the planes almost as much as flying them. I’ve introduced this to my young nephews who are now interested in it as well. I do belong to an AMA club here in South Carolina and I do believe pilots need to be safe and operate their aircraft responsibly. I don’t believe there are wide-spread issues with safety or pilot responsibility. If there are issues with certain types of aircraft or pilots in the hobby, focus should be placed specifically on addressing those issues/pilots. Too many times in America, we see overreaching laws and rules to address a just a handful of “wrong doers”. I understand that a couple bad apples can spoil the whole barrel. Why not pluck out the couple bad apples instead of throwing away the whole barrel? These proposed rules/regulations would do just that; it would kill the hobby instead of specifically targeting the problem areas.”
