“I acquired a love of aviation from my father. He worked with B-26 bombers in WWII and became a private pilot after the war. While he stopped flying when I was born due to expenses, he still would take me to the local airport on weekends, and we would visit the giant airshow in Oshkosh WI during our summer vacations. Model aviation is an affordable way for me to enjoy flying. It also provides me a small amount of income, as I assist with an online retailer doing customer service, as well as managing an internet forum and moderating social media sites. I promote the benefits of education through model aviation, and am very concerned about the impacts that the NPRM as written would have on that much needed avenue for getting kids interested in STEM programs. We as a nation are already falling behind in science and technology. We continue to regulate ourselves out of competitiveness with the rest of the world. This NPRM would just be another nail in that coffin.”
