“Building and flying model aircraft has become my favorite thing over the last 4 years since I got started. My 2 and 4 year old boys love helping me build and coming along, fpv is a great way to relax when I can step out the door and fly over my own property, and I love exploring remote areas with FPV. I’m a minister and I’ve even done a lot with kids. I get invited to a local high school to help kids get into STEM. Most recently, I got to start helping an older neighbor start building his own drone. He has a degenerative disease and is losing the ability to walk. I’m hoping that flying through FPV will make him feel free again. I understand there need to be rules, but surely pilots flying far away from people at a modest altitude don’t need to be paying massive fees to report on themselves to the authorities. Who does it harm for me to own the first 150 feet of air over my own land? Being a pilot was a childhood dream of mine that slipped away. What I get to do now makes me feel like a 9 year old again every single day. Please don’t take this from me.”
