“I started flying as soon as I found out freestyle drone flying was a thing. I have always been involved in some sort of a creative “extreme sport”, bmx, skateboarding, motocross. However, once I became an adult and had a career, I couldn’t justify breaking an arm or leg. So I put away my hobby fun. In the years following that decision I found myself missing something. I felt depressed and needed to find an outlet. Then I saw a video of someone flying drones. Diving a building. As soon as that happened my glass ceiling broke and my mind went back to when I was 5 seeing the blue angels for the first time. I had to have that!!! Here was my chance to do what I had only ever dreamt to do! Take to the skies! And 4yrs countless hours building, repairing, learning and dollars invested I am a “pilot”! Well a drone pilot. I have gained more skills from this hobby than I could imagine. Electronics work, software troubleshooting, editing video, photography, videography, the list is really endless. However, the most important take away I have from FPV as a hobby are the hundreds of people I have met and the friends I have made through this community! People from all over the world! I am endlessly in love with this hobby and if only I had started younger I would be a full scale pilot today!!! FPV flight is important to me because it allows me to get outside and escape, if only for a few minutes at a time, the stress and weight of life. It allows me to decompress without pharmaceuticals. It gives me an excuse to go hang with some like minded people. It gives me something to show my kids that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!”
