“I am a lifetime modeler. I started out 4+ decades ago as a kid with plastic models, then control line flying and finally radio control aircraft. I was that kid that always looked up in the sky when an airplane flew over. Fast forward many years and I am now a professional pilot for a major US airline, in addition to being a CFI, CFII, MEI as well as an A&P technician. I guess you could say that aviation is in my blood. The point is that this all leads back to model aviation, the spark that lit the fire for the rest of my adult and professional life, and the hobby I thoroughly enjoy still to this day. I honestly classify it as a life’s journey through aviation. This process took many years of hard work. Not only was it rewarding, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would not trade it for anything. I am blessed that my two sons both enjoy the hobby right along with me. We build and we fly. We fly at the club field and we fly in the back yard. We go to Joe Nall. We go to EAA Airventure. We go to Golden Age Air Museum. We fly general aviation, We fly small planes. We fly big planes. The hobby really is a true love and I am happy to be able to share it with my boys. I am upset. Upset that our great hobby is being so thoroughly threatened by the FAA at no fault of ours. As a current aviation professional I am absolutely disheartened by the direction the FAA has taken with their remote ID proposal. I only hope, that more reasonable solutions will prevail that will allow the model aviation hobby to continue on, unencumbered, so that future generations may enjoy the hobby just as I have.”
