“My autistic son is why I got into this hobby. We went to an event in 2002 and he seemed to enjoy it. We started going to other events and found a local club that flys indoors during the winter and he really loved to watch. Eventually, one of the club members taught me how to fly. Now I’m actually president of that club. My son may not fly (he enjoys crashing on the simulator though) but enjoys coming to the field and attending events. The socialization has helped him greatly.
