“Soldering and assembling my own quad rotor drones for freestyle flight has changed the course of my life. I’ve been a paramedic for 10 years and I’m in the progress of getting an engineering degree and changing my career. I wish I could have found something like this when I was younger and I’m concerned about the impact of the proposed regulations essentially making this hobby, my hobby, illegal and destroying any education or innovation benefits that it currently has. My nearest club field to fly at is 400+ miles away. If I am to comply with the regulations as proposed I will be completely unable to fly any longer. Flying freestyle FPV quads to me is like riding a motorcycle without a helmet letting the wind blow through my hair; there’s nothing else like it and there’s no real way to replace or imitate it. Furthermore it’s an art form for many whether they fly long range over rugged, desolate, non-traversable terrain or simply record freestyle flights set to music and upload to YouTube.”
