“Flying gives me an escape from the world. Something about the ability to put together some foam and electronics into an airplane is highly satisfying. Whenever I go to fly there are always people who come up to me and are intrigued by my planes. Its something that everybody thinks is really cool and I find it amazing to be part of such a beautiful community. The remote ID is concerning to me because it adds another barrier to entry to this amazing hobby which is already hard to get into (equipment costs, multiple crashed planes, time). Remote Id would just make everything more complicated, pre-built airplanes would need to change to accommodate the remote id module. It seems like overstepping to me. If there is actual evidence that suggests that RC aircraft is a public safety hazard then lets add functions that prevent the crashes, prevent the runaway planes instead of trying to track the crashes.”
