“As a father of two young children, I look forward to being able to share a hobby with my kids as they grow up that we can all enjoy. I only entered the hobby a few years ago. I wish that I had been introduced to it as a kid. I have gained skills and understanding through the hobby (soldering, 3D printing, CNC machining) that I didn’t even possess after completing an engineering degree. I wonder how much more I might have gained in my education if I had an application like designing and building RC aircraft to which I could have immediately applied what I was being taught. Because of the hobby, I have also gained a number of friends from diverse backgrounds and across multiple generations. Those relationships have not been limited to the hobby. It has helped in my professional life (through relationships with people in related fields) and it has allowed me to help and encourage people whom otherwise I would never have gotten to know. ### This community aspect is a cost which no one can quantify. If excessive restrictions are placed upon the hobby, it will result in many people giving up and fewer people getting into recreational RC flying. RC flying has made a positive impact on my life and I would like for everyone to continue to have that opportunity.”
