“My name is Larry D’Wayne Erwin and I want to submit my information concerning Remote Identification of Unmanned Aircraft Systems. I am 53 years old and have been flying for 46 years. I have held a membership with the Academy of Model Aeronautics since 1989, #547155 and I hold a current FAA Certificate No. FA33ERWYNP. I have also been using the LAANC system respectfully and successfully since its inception. I own 22 aircraft, all of which are amateur built. I fly 14 of them at a “Fixed Flying Site” located in Cedar Park, Texas at coordinates 30.5186, -97.8189. This is located 2,180 feet from my residence and is my neighborhood park. The remaining 8 aircraft are flown at my AMA club due to their size and for safety concerns. However, it is 25 miles away and I can usually only bring one or two. For the past 21 years I have flown the majority of my aircraft and taught dozens of people how to fly their recreational aircraft at the above coordinates without incident. The current proposal for Remote ID will become a huge financial burden to register, equip and maintain data services for my $20K fleet. I believe that the continued use of the LAANC system along with a better understanding of what a safe, “Fixed Flying Site” could be is a great start in the right direction. I would love to continue teaching all of the things involved with recreational flight and am willing to help in any way I can. Thank you for your considerations.”
