“Since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to fly radio controlled planes. My family never had the money to allow me to do that. I am now an adult. The combination of low-cost, modern electronics and low-cost, easily built foamboard models (like those designed by Flite Test) have allowed me to finally join this hobby. I have a 2 acre yard in a very rural area, so I primarily fly in my own yard. My dad watched me flying one of my models one day and decided that he would also join the hobby. Although I had to wait 30 years to do it, I finally get to fly model airplanes with my dad. All of our models are scratch-built, so none of them would be able to comply with the current remote ID NPRM language. If passed in its current form, I’m afraid that would end this hobby for both of us. Neither of us has the money to buy FAA approved store-bought models and/or travel to approved flying sites.”
