“Flying model aircraft (I fly only fixed-wing) has been my preferred hobby since I was eight years old -I am now 63. I did not pursue a career in aviation but have learnt an awful deal of mechanics, aerodynamics, electronics, computer programming, woodwork, plastics, metals, creativity, patience, and -believe it or not- concentration -try flying a thermal glider or a slope aerobatic soarer for over an hour and you will see what I mean. My life and that of the people I touch -I am a university professor of strategy and entrepreneurship- have been deeply influenced my my passion of designing, building and flying model airplanes.”
