“My family has been a part of model aviation since the 1950’s. My father started us off, I joined in the 1970’s, my son in the 1990’s, and my grandson has started recently. I am an engineer today in part because of my involvement in model aircraft building and operation. My father built and flew RC planes all of his adult life starting with single channel escapement models. He flew expert pattern competition in the 60′ and 70’s. When retired, he regularly built and flew giant scale aircraft including a 1/3 scale J-3 Cub and a 1/4 scale P-51. When he died a few years ago I inherited his aircraft and have since become more active in the sport.”
