“I fly helicopters mostly at home in my backyard. I build and fly foam board airplane s also. Mostly helicopters. I love the challenge of building and tuning and flying rc helicopters. I’m close to retirement and I took up this hobby about a year ago to have something to do for my retirement. I live in the middle of nowhere with no airport s closer than 25 miles. I live on about 3 acres. I would like to be able to work around my house or yard and take a 15 minute break and fly a helicopter, then go back to work. I don’t want to have to drive 22 miles to a flying field to fly. And the cost of ama and club dues is out of line. I don’t see any public safety concerns as I have a large yard and my neighbors are far away. I am certainly not a threat to national security. This is my passion and if it becomes overregulated it will very negatively affect my life. There is no logical reason to regulate what I am doing on my backyard. I am not doing anybody any harm. I plan on spending years learning this craft, I would appreciate it if you didn’t make it more difficult and financially burdensome to do in retirement after paying taxes for 45 years. Thank you.”
