“Since I was little I’ve always loved planes. I learned to fly RC planes very young, and it has been a part of my life for years. I love to build and fly planes for recreation, and as a creativity outlet. I’ve made over 50 planes since I was 12, and it has become like an art form. These little planes have such a free feeling as I fly them. It’s relaxing and fun, and I’ve always enjoyed it. The enjoyment of building my airplanes from scratch and then flying them, became a life-saver in my early teenage years. In those dark times I was often depressed and hurting and numb. As simple as it is, building and flying planes was like a spark of light distracting me from all that. Looking back, it’s what saved me. I know there are others who feel the same. This is why I am concerned about the proposed FAA rules. The FAA propositions would undoubtedly kill the hobby, and along with the hobby, the dreams of many people young and old. Most of us can’t afford to join clubs, pay club dues, or buy some ridiculous Remote ID device for our planes. ALarge portion of the hobbyists planes could never hope to fly well- or at all- with remote ID gear installed. Most of us hobbyists don’t want the privacy invasion of the proposed apps and such. From my point of view, to go forward with the proposed FAA rules would end the RC hobby as we know it.”
