“We have three generations of hobby rc air pilots in our family, designing and building small fixed wing and quadcopters out of foam and hardware store materials. We will soon have over 30 aircraft in our hanger with new designs and builds all of the time. Depending on implementation of new proposed regulations, especially cost or limiting flight locations the FAA could make the education, innovation, design, build and flying of foam board or balsa models untenable.
The fear of running afoul of the government or law enforcement over a few dollars of foam and hot glue if regulations are not clear, affordable and easy to comply with will likely have the effect of pushing large groups of enthusiasts out of the build-and-fly hobby entirely.”
