“Model aviation has proved to be an extremely safe hobby over the past several decades and is extremely important for education. It teaches not only aviation, but aerodynamics, electronics, and model-making to name a few, but also can lead to other skills such as CAD design, and 3d-printing. Taking these opportunities away, or making them so difficult to acquire would be very detrimental to innovation and would effectively kill the hobby. With so few (none?) instances of model aircraft, whether autonomous, LOS, BVLOS or FPV, I don’t see any reason why we still cannot co-exist in the airspace, especially when other aircraft such as PPG or ultralights continue to be unregulated.”
