“Please don’t mess with my hobby!! Section 349 specifies EXEMPTIONS for hobbyist aircraft. The FAA should not bow to commercial drone interests at the expense of the hobbyists. The NPRM very unfairly targets traditional fixed wing model aircraft and those that pilot them. Model aircraft combine science, technology, education and mathematics (STEM) and for me personally combine my love of history, aeronautics, maintaining, and repairing my 60+ aircraft, all of which cannot be flown beyond visual line of sight. The FAA needs to recognize the difference between those who follow regulations, fly on private property, and stay within line of sight and the type of aircraft that actually pose a threat to the airspace, which are those that can fly beyond visual line of sight or by GPS. Autonomous vehicles are the ones that need to be regulated and hobbyist flying line of sight on private party do not need to be regulated.”
