“I have been flying for over 40 years, my dad introduced me to the hobby when I was just 10 years old and we built or the first glider together in the garage together these are memories that have last me a lifetime. As I got older I slowly grew into the hobby of RC flight and bought my first Radio and Receiver and servos from a hobby store and built and learned to fly RC sailplanes I do think that with the birth of drones like the DJI type with cameras and full GPS it brought people into the hobby that had never flown anything and they were calling themself pilots and posting videos online showing the good and more often the bad stuff that could happen when a novice took the sticks and had no flying experience. So yes rules are needed, but if you force people to fly at a location or designated field that might for them be miles or hours away, any child or person who has no transportation or means to get to a required field will never take up the hobby, this will also affect people who are older who might not be able to drive, people with handicaps or who struggle to go a distance to fly, local school clubs who have to now find transportation to go to a away location to fly, local hobby stores who sell kits to people that fly in their backyards and at local schools. I fly a local park that is near a disability center many of the patients will come over and watch us fly on the weekends as it gives them a reason to get outside and seeing the smiles on there faces is priceless.”
