“I work in the UAV defense industry and have been a hobbyist pilot for over a decade. Flying as a hobby keeps me up to date on the new directions UAV manufacturers are pursuing. Additionally, flying with colleagues and friends on weekends are usually the highlights of my week. The fact that the UAV defense industry is unconcerned with the potential threats the new regulations may have on their business model in making obsolete our defense solutions demonstrates what little impact the new regulations will have in curtailing nefarious or unintentionally harmful pilots. The proposed regulations will have disproportionally negative effects on responsible pilots while doing little to curb the threat potentially harmful UAV’s present.”
