“Part 107 pilot. Aerospace undergrad. PhD student in CS (AI). I would not have chosen my career path without the hobby. I’ve been in love with planes and rc since I was a kid. I’ve always wanted to design and build autonomous aircraft. Being in the RC hobby gave me a huge advantage over all other students in my degree programs. I knew basics of aerodynamics, controls, and stability a decade before most of my peers. The building aspect in particular taught me practical skills like soldering, electronic design, and fabrication. Aerospace and AI are areas of intense national security interest. The RC hobby directly contributes to the security of the nation by better educating the future engineers and scientists of this country. This rule would be a drastic mistep for our national interests.”
