“I have entered this hobby as an enthusiast. I find the hobby fascinating and the initial knowledge gap is gigantic. Adding significant restrictions in flying locations and hardware would have pushed me out of this hobby before I could have gotten into it. At that, I fly my own quads in parks consistently now. I have registered my crafts with the FAA and I use the AirMap app to register my flights. The system is giving me peace of mind if I was confronted by the public or authorities. I also think that as I get into longer flights my responsibilities should be increased as well. I think that systems like the TBS FLARM seem to be a good solution to remote-id issues. I would really like to keep flying the drones that I have built myself.”
