“I introduced my son to fixed wing RC aircraft at a very early age. Over the years, we have designed, built, and flown several aircraft. Hi interest in the hobby and new technology has expanded over the years to include multi-rotor aircraft, sensors and GPS, and first-person view technology. This has resulted in my son pursuing a college education and a career in aerospace. The hobby historically was very expensive and required skills that had to be learned and practiced. In recent years, the hobby has become less expensive with excellent technology advances to make the hobby easier to learn. This results in the hobby being more accessible to young people. I am against further regulation of the hobby for recreational purposes. The proposed ID and associated regulations make the hobby far too expensive. I also enjoy flying in West Virginia in remote mountain locations where there is no access to internet or even cellular phone service, and these regulations would make that impossible to do legally. I’m also concerned about privacy.”
