“I’ve been a long time amateur flyer ranging from model airplanes and helicopters in the 90s and now multi-rotors. I do think some form of active identification of drones and remote pilots is required, especially if the hobby grows, but the proposed remote id regulations seems deeply flawed. What makes sense is an app based registration (similar to what far 107 pilots use now) as an interim solution and long term a telemetry style broadcast indicating pilot ID on either the transmitter or flying aircraft. This could be sent over FPV vtx channels or the telemetry link on existing transmitters.”
