“I started in the RC fixed wing aircraft hobby after retiring from a career in the aerospace industry. I was introduced to it through another retiree inviting me to try it and serving as my instructor. Learning to fly RC has provided me new learning opportunities and new challenges at a time in my life when I have the time and opportunity to take advantage of it. It gives me something else that is fun to do with my time. It provides me an opportunity to spend time with a group of like-minded people that are also enjoying the hobby, learning, increasing their skills and just spending time in community with them. I look forward to days when the weather cooperates and schedules permit committing a half day or a day to flying together with my friends. The small group that I am part of ranges in age from 80+ to as low as 5 (a great-grandson) just starting out. Flying RC is a great way for friends to spend time together. Attached is a photo showing most (not all) of the planes our little group of 5 currently have when we made an effort to get them all out to our flying field at one time.”
