“Flying as a hobby is an activity that has provided me with countless hours of safe entertainment, education, and bonding with my fellow pilots. The proposed regulations have the potential to end the hobby in its current form. The current registration requirements are perfectly sufficient for holding pilots accountable; the key is better education of pilots regarding safe flying practices, not requiring expensive new features to be added to every aircraft for the sole purpose of restricting flying locations. The proposed regulations will massively increase the barriers to entry of the hobby, both financially and in terms of aircraft usability. These types of regulations, if implemented at all, should be solely restricted to large commercial autonomous vehicles.”
