“I teach STEM in schools and the passion to learn great skills when I show model aircraft is immense. My passion started with an old Mills 0.75 engine from my uncle. From then I designed, built from scratch then flew plans for many years. I learn’t so much engineering process as well as research and modern science. Anything to keep children interested in learning skills for the workforce and a healthy mind is needed in today’s throw away and commodity environment. In later years I have got back into the hobby, it’s more economic and accessible to try all the technology, go to the park and fly, take great photos from height and just think. Any imaginary unproven risks from this hobby would just add to the ridiculous fear generated about science, 3d printers, lasers and medicine.”
