“At a time when so many stuggle with mental health, it saddens & frustrates me that our own government seeks to make such a benign activity less accessible to those who greatly benefit from the pleasures of model aviation. I know I’m not alone when I say that this hobby is one of the few “therapies” that has helped me manage my own mental health, either via the accomplishments it provides, or the fellowship it encourages among friends & like-minded hobbyists. I already know folks who are backing out of the hobby, and others who are avoiding entry into it, strictly due to the increase in regulatory burden. It’s tragic that even in a “free” country such as ours, the pursuit of happiness & well-being is handicapped without concern for the consequences. I’m also concerned for the loss of knowledge & innovation that results from less participation from future generations, not just from a scientific standpoint, but also historical. I’ve found that many (myself included) are compelled to study much more history as a result of their interest in aviation. And the older I get, the more I recognize the value in understanding our past, in order to build a better future for all.
