“I’ve been racing in an AMA club for 2 years, even though I’m not a paying AMA member. Races are only once a week so to practice I fly at soccer fields, and have gotten many people at my college involved in flying too. I feel that by tagging my drone (just over 250g) with a model ID, that should be enough. I try to not fly within 250 yards of people or roads, but it’s not possible in most circumstances. Further regulation would see many entry level people like myself leaving the hobby.”
