“Been flying model aircraft for over 25 years and full size planes for several years…we’ve never had problems with public safety issues. Only recently with automatic flight mode drones has this even been a concern since it allows almost anyone to enter the hobby. If you’re going to regulate anything it should be the control of drones that require zero skill to fly. Standard RC planes and helicopters NOT equipped with such systems (beyond training aids) should not be grouped into the same category as the Wal-mart drone pilot with no experience or respect for rules. If you want to fix safety issues of people operating drones in flight paths and near airports without permission and in other unsafe manners then make the consequences and fines match the offense and leave the rest of us who follow the rules that have been in place for decides alone.”
