“I started flying 64 years ago and my involvement led to a career in electronics because we had to build everything including the radios. The others who flew with me then also were influenced by the technology. One owns and operates an airport restoring and promoting general aviation aircraft. Another became an aerospace engineer. Others went into aviation related businesses.
That is why I have been involved with STEM programs especially those that encourage aviation. It has been so much fun to see the excitement the students feel when they are able to put the technology into practice.
My hope is that model aviation can continue to be accessible to young people and that general aviation can benefit from them as they develop the knowledge gained through STEM programs related to aviation.
Please don’t kill the hobby with the NPRM. It will only make it impossible to continue flying traditional model aircraft. It will not make anything safer by its implementation.”
