“I enjoy building model aircraft as much or more than flying them. I have to drive a half hour to get to a remote area where I can fly my fixed wing models safely – so I don’t do it often. I have a scratchbuilt 250mm quadcopter that I love because I can fly it at low altitude ( under 30 feet) within the confines of my half acre back yard at any time. It is literally no risk to air traffic (anything flying that low would hit trees) and causes no problems for my neighbors. The idea that I will need to buy a data plan for it or have to travel an hour or more to a CBO field that allows quads and pay field/club fees on top of that is utterly ridiculous.”
