“I am an engineer for an aviation company, full-scale pilot, a R/C pilot and I also have a part 107 certification. I’ve really enjoyed the community of people that love to learn and share what they’ve learned with each other. The hobby has also allowed me to teach children in my life about engineering, flight, and safety within the hobby. My wife and I also share the hobby together. I taught her how to build and fly R/C airplanes and it is something we both really enjoy and helps us grow closer as we spend time together building and flying. I am really concerned that the new regulations will not actually solve the issues, will create a huge barrier to entry for people interested flight and the hobby, make the hobby extremely difficult to enjoy for the people that are already safe and aware of their responsibilities, and over all I think it will decrease the number of new people to take interest in the hobby and flight in general. All these things will in turn affect many businesses and people’s jobs, livelihood, and in the long run it will reduce the number of people that go into aviation careers.”
