“I got hooked through my wife’s cousin’s husband. He scratch build high performance gliders and took me out to Torrey Pines (before the restrictions). I have scratch built balsa models, both gliders and electric plans. For me it is so much fun to build and fly, it is truly the greatest hobby. I have flown with very experienced pilots and they have all stressed the importance of safety – both in the air and on the ground. And since I also fly a drone, for aerial photography, I need to make sure that I follow the regulations regarding where I fly and what how it might effect people on the ground. The suggested regulations from the FAA will limit me as a hobby flyer, to the extent that I might give up my hobby.”
