“My wife has stage 4 breast cancer and will undergo Chemo for the rest of her life. I use the hobby as a distraction. It keeps me home, close to her, when I’m building planes and she enjoys getting out and watching me fly. I had hoped to someday take flying lessons and get an actual pilot’s license, but after my wife’s diagnosis I realized the financial burden of her medical bills would make that dream impossible. I had also hoped to one day be good enough at building and flying model planes that I could introduce my grandchildren to the hobby and share the fun with them. Maybe, and hopefully, entice them into a career in aviation.”
