“I have been in RC since the early 80’s where I was drawn to a hill where my uncle flew a handmade slope glider running on FM frequency crystals. I was about 8 years old at the time and I have had an interest in RC cars, airplanes, boats, helicopters and most recently quadcopters. As a child, my folks used RC as a way to get me to read because they found that I would invest countless hours flipping through the instruction manual of my Team Assiciated RC10. RC hobbies have always been fun for me, but the introduction to FPV drones has been an evolution in the hobby that has truly been amazing for me. It has brought my 15 year old son and I closer as I am able to teach him what I know and in many ways he is teaching me about what he knows about “gaming”, somewhat of an intersection of gaming and reality. I have a well-paying job in tech and I deeply enjoy the build process as does my son. We love to go to the desert and fly all of our rc toys from the dji drone, to super-fast scratch built fpv drones. It has been a great way for me to get my boy away from the tv and more importantly some quality father & son time on the weekends. It would be a shame to lose this outlet both for my personally sanity when I’m trying to clear my mind of a hard days work and the quality time it affords my son and I. I do understand the need for some kind of reasonable controls/regulations. I hope the hobby (fpv) remains on a positive evolution path for all to enjoy for years to come!”
