“I’m a certified commercial pilot who got into aviation initially through model aviation. I’ve flown models ever since I was little, and while I do so primarily for personal enjoyment, I also strongly feel that my experience with remote control aircraft has made me a better and safer pilot in full-size aircraft as well. I know I’m not alone in this regard. And while it seems the majority of commercial pilots are not involved in recreational model flying (or even substantially in recreational full-size flying, sadly enough), I do believe that model aviation has an overall positive impact on aviation skill and therefore safety, in addition to being a safe and enjoyable hobby. Remote ID would quite frankly destroy this hobby and this positive impact it has.”
