“I started flying at 11 years old. My family was never really supportive of my hobbies and took no real interest other than taking me to the hobby shop. I’m now 34 years old and I have been completely self taught! I have taught a couple friends to fly and even taught my nephew to fly. Got him hooked up with a micro quad and a 6 channel remote and he now is in the aerospace engineering program on a full scholarship to Perdue! My interests and my abilities have allowed him to go into a field of unbelievable potential. I fly in parks, I fly in neighborhoods under construction, I haven’t renewed my AMA license because I simply never use their fields…. If I ever get to one that’s required I will gladly renew the license, I just don’t think I should be restricted to flying fields when I get so many questions and put myself forward as a diplomat to the hobby everywhere I go. It’s something I do for fun. I always maintain situational awareness to any aircraft coming into my flight area and rapidly descend to a low altitude in a holding pattern until they pass. I love flying and I want to continue my hobby. It’s one of the very few things I have in life that bring me joy and having it restricted even further not only makes it difficult it just takes all the joy out of it.”
